Work data in ChatGPT
A personal extension is not your company’s rulebook.
Work chats and personal chats get mixed on the same laptop. You open ChatGPT to fix a sentence, and the sentence is from a client, a colleague, or a ticket that includes someone’s phone number. The tab does not know which hat you are wearing.
Start with the rule you already have
If your employer has an approved AI tool, or a written “do not paste customer data” rule, that rule wins. Vipra is not a company product, not a data-loss system for a security team, and not a way to bless a paste your workplace forbids. It is something you can run for yourself when you are the one about to press send.
A practical split
- The task: “make this agenda easier to scan.”
- The record: employee names, customer emails, ticket IDs tied to a person, internal links with tokens.
Keep the task. Cut the record, or replace people with roles. If the notes are sensitive even after the names are gone — a hiring decision, a security incident, an unannounced number — leave them out of a personal chat.
Vipra can flag the record it knows how to see, locally, including on a ChatGPT message. It will not apply your company policy, and it will not see every work secret. Five protections a day are there to try that pause. Unlimited protections are €4.99 once, if you want the pause every time. Neither one replaces a workplace rule.
