Client details and the chat box
The brief is often fine to discuss. The client’s inbox is a different object.
If you freelance or work in a small team, ChatGPT is an easy place to untangle a brief. You paste the email, ask for a plan, and get something useful back. The client did not necessarily agree to be part of that paste.
A useful test is simple. Would you forward this exact text to a stranger who is good at the task? If the answer is “only the creative problem, not their phone number”, then the chat box deserves the same cut.
Usually the work, not the record
- The goal, the audience, and the constraint are the work.
- The client’s email, their customer’s name, a contract number, or a home address is the record.
- A file name like “Ana-Lopez-passport.pdf” is a name even when you never open the file in the prompt.
You can describe the job without the record. “A bakery wants a softer confirmation email” is enough for a draft. Add a fake placeholder if the sentence needs a slot to fill.
What a tool will not understand
Some client information is sensitive even when it has no email address in it. An unreleased price, a dispute, or a strategy can be the whole secret. Vipra looks for specific shapes — names, emails, phones, and a short list of other types — on your device. It does not know that a paragraph is confidential. If you would not say it in a café, do not rely on a highlighter to catch it.
Used that way, Vipra is a second look at the record, not a promise about the relationship.
